Q: Why should I consider filler?
A: As we age, we lose ½ teaspoon of volume per decade of life. Volume includes primarily bone and fat. When this happens, our faces begin to take on a downward appearance. Filler can help restore lost volume. This approach helps rebuild the foundation of the face so that skin has structure on which to lay.
Filler can also be used to plump (think lips) or to fill (think deep nasal labial folds or other deep creases).
Q: What is filler made of?
A: The fillers we use are made of hyaluronic acid (HA). HA is made in our bodies, and is one of the building blocks of healthy skin. HA is hydrophilic, and attracts water. Once injected as a filler, it remains in the area, and will attract water.
Q: How long does it last?
A: There are different fillers to achieve different results.
To restore volume, a higher viscosity filler is used. This can last up to 2 years.
Filler used to plump a pout, or to fill folds in the face can last up to 1 ½ years.

An extra note about lip filler
If you get lip filler, we’ve seen several patients experience dry, chapped lips the week after getting filler in their lips. Be ready with a hydrating lip balm. The dryness may be caused by
- The hyaluronic acid (which is attracting water) in the filler
- The filler has increased the size of your lips, and is exposing skin that was previously more well protected
