More and More Men Are Trying Botox

You may or may not have considered getting Botox or filler, however your brethren are already doing it. Although women are talking about it more, and still are the larger group getting procedures, men are quickly realizing they can also access the same tools to look their best. Here’s what the stats show:

  • There has been a 101% increase in men’s Botox procedures in the last 6 years1
  • In a 2017 survey, 31% of men said they were “extremely likely” to consider a cosmetic procedure2

If you’re curious about Botox, it’s a neuromodulator which puts your muscle on holiday. A dynamic muscle is one that moves when we smile or frown. Men often begin to experience strong forehead lines, lines between the eyes/eyebrows, and wrinkles around the outer corner of the eyes (aka crow’s feet). When the muscles are stopped, then the wrinkle caused by the muscle stops creasing.

Here are the top priority treatment areas for men1:

  • Crow’s feet: 80%
  • Forehead lines: 74%
  • Glabellar: 50%
Our Aesthetic Nurse will ask clients to smile, furrow, or raise brows. This enables her to identify the muscles to inject. Here, a client smiles, so we can treat his Crows Feet.

Because you have Botox doesn’t mean all the facial muscles are frozen. Botox can soften the wrinkle, and doesn’t make the face look unnatural. Because men’s muscles are usually stronger than a woman’s, you will very likely require more Botox than a woman getting the same areas treated.

Interestingly, professionals such as attorneys and therapists are discovering Botox can help them in their professions by helping them keep their faces more neutral.

Botox results aren’t immediate. They require between 3-14 days to “settle.” We make it a standard to check in with our clients 14 days after their Botox treatment to make sure everything is looking good.

How Long Does Botox Last? Botox (as well as Dysport, another neuromodulator we offer) lasts approximately 3-4 months. If you have a fast metabolism, the time can decrease.

More and more men are appreciating the great results they’re experiencing from Botox and other treatments. Looking fresh. Staying competitive. Best selves. Dr. Dara Liotta, facial plastic surgeon, has a quote that sums it up, “Botox and filler does not discriminate on the basis of gender.”
